On my 5th yoga session I came to know Bonic, a good looking young man in his 30’s. He is a production manager from an advertising firm and needed a relief from stress, his reason for enrolling in a yoga class.

We were happily discussing our experiences from the first time we set foot at the Yoga studio to doing those “Asanas” (posture) up to the improvements we have managed to achieved when Lokesh butt in. Lokesh is one of those very good volunteer Yoga Teachers.

He told us that what had happened to us is not an accident but by incident.

Now, what's parapsychology? It's the psychology of the mind in
relation to cause and effect. This universe is an intricate web of
vibrations. Everything is connected. Whatever happens is the effect
of something else, and the cause of something else again. "When a
blade of grass moves, the whole universe quivers." Everything is
incidental; nothing is accidental. We usually refer to something as
an "accident" because we can't see what caused it, but certainly it
was caused by something. "Everything comes from something. Nothing
comes from nothing."

Need I say more? Of course I believed him. I only wanted to be relieved of my muscle pains but I ended up knowing a lot of things about my body, importance of meditation and looking forward to know more about natural healing.

As I refuse now to take those synthetic drugs that are supposed to cure my body pains temporarily I am now embarking on a journey of learning the art of Yoga.

I have searched the internet and found several sites that discusses about yoga and diabetes. One site that got my attention that made me decide to try yoga is a testimony written by Mr. Julian Goldstein.

There is a Way to Reverse Diabetes

I tripped over a treatment quite by accident after having suffered a herniated disc in my lower back. Three doctors proclaimed, “Surgery!” This is a risky alternative in any case, but even more so because of my diabetes. Then I heard that regular practice of hatha yoga may help my back problem.

Of far greater benefit, I soon learned, was that performing the yoga postures daily for five months eliminated my need to take insulin or any other anti-diabetic medications! I had required 75 units of insulin daily. Insulin kept me alive, but not healthy. Hatha yoga put me back on the road to good health.

This method is a therapeutic form developed by Bikram Choudhury, a yoga master from India and my teacher. His method consists primarily of two pranayamas (breathing exercises) and 26 asanas (postures). How can yoga reverse diabetes? Isn’t it just another form of exercise? Well, yes–and no. All diabetics know that daily aerobic exercise helps control blood sugar and improve circulation (poor circulation is a major complication of diabetes). Though the exact mechanics are not precisely known, exercise reduces the amount of insulin required to maintain normal blood sugar levels. For some adult onset diabetics, proper diet and exercise are all that’s required to regulate normal blood sugar. But for the vast majority, oral medication or insulin injection is necessary to maintain life. Many who at first can control blood sugar with diet and exercise find that, in later years, they also require medication.

You may read the rest of his article by clicking here

Wish me luck friends so that I will have the courage and strength to try those seems to be backbreaking exercises.
