First let me give my heartfelt “Thank You” to all the people who made our Singapore Trip possible and memorable.

To Mae- my lovely daughter who got her beauty, brains and intelligence from her mother (sabi niya) who finance our trip.  I am really proud of you. Just don’t stop planning our next trip (wink!). Love you! Tsup!

To Tin and Rain- my wife’s niece and her husband whose precious days were spent with us by touring us around Singapore. We even have to sleep over by their residence due to my bad memory and judgment.

To Lanie (Picture to follow)– the mother of my daughter ’s classmates and “barkada” who have to skip work just to show us the Chinatown district famous tourist destination and even accompany us in going to Malaysia.

Thank you so much for making us a real tourist in every sense of the word. I know that the pain I felt during the long walk we endure also gave you pain especially Tin. I almost saw you dragging your feet.

No words can explain the happiness we felt. We were like kids again exploring our new environment being pampered by you people.

Thanks again and I’ll be writing our memoir soon!

For the mean time could you guess the real meaning of the word “No Outside Food” poster posted outside the restaurant.

My message to Lanie,

Exactly a week from now you would be taking your Nursing Board exam.

NLE exam.

I understand how you feel right now. The feeling of

nervousness with a mixture of excitement is the same feeling being

felt by the thousand nursing graduates that would also be taking the same examination.

The four years of your education filled with summer studies and provincial duties would now be put to test.

I admit that there are times, during your first year and second year of studies that I wonder how does you

managed to hurdle those pre-lim exam and other exams even though I never saw you study your lesson.

But you seem to pass them in a breeze.

Your mother would tell me that you never leave you room the night, so it means you have exam to take

the morning that follows.

That’s your mother’s reading of your study pattern. You’re good at cramming. Darn good.

As the years go by and as your tuition fee increases, I though that your subjects must be harder also.

I thought I should see some changes in your study habit. But your style of studying remains the same.

Before I knew it we were already at the PICC convention center attending your graduation rites.

Parents usually love seeing their children open their books and study their lesson everyday like we

used to do during our time. I realize that during those times there were only few distractions unlike

now.

They have computers, cell phone, television and PSP to take away their attention too.

Unlike before, one could only play at home if you play “Sungka”, chess or other board games.

All other games requires team effort and are all physical such as “Luksung Lubid”,”Luksung Tinik”

“Tumbang Preso”, “Taguan pong”, “Siato”, “Sumpit”, “Patentero”, “Sipa”, “Tantsing”, Jolens”

“Piko”, “Bahay-bahayan”, “Text”, “Bending Body”, “Goma”, “Trumpo”, “banka-bankaan.

I think another post is needed to remind us about those games.

As time passes and accepting the reality of life, parents view about how their children study also changes.

Now they think that as long as their children receive passing grades then it is A-Okay already. Of course

these opinion is based on the parents that I managed to talk to with.

Going back to Lanie, now is the moment of truth. You have attended you review classes and

managed to pass those qualifying examination given by your school.

You have our prayers and support and no matter what happened, you’re surely passed that board exam.

Beleive me! Believe in the power of prayers.

As your mother would always tell us over our dinning table, “You’re all lucky because

you got my intelligence that is why I felt that there’s nothing left now”.

Make full use of those genes from your mother!
