Remember my previous post about my friend Charlie who was brought by his guardian angel into my office just for a visit and to tell me that he is planning to resign from his current company.

At that time also I happened to receive a text message that a company is looking for a Branch Manager with sales experience.

That was September 3, 2009 a Wednesday. By Friday he was accepted and started his carrier as a Branch Manager last September 14, 2009.

Another friend Jun would undergo his orientation in the same company today while Donnie attended to his final panel interview yesterday.

I believe the company was impressed with the performance of my friend Charlie that they wanted more referrals coming from our company, our former Branch Managers. I just wanted to share with you if your interested or know somebody who is also interested to work as a Branch Manager,(50)  motorized collector, (50) Cashier, and (50) Marketing Assistant.

here are the areas where branch managers are needed in the visayas and mindanao:

cebu, ormoc, tagbilaran, ubay,virac, masbate, puerto princesa

we will also need motorized collectors, cashiers and marketing assistants there. but, priority siyempre, branch managers.

Requirements:

• Male, 25 – 35 years old.
• at least 2 years of Managerial position
• Graduate of Commerce/ Accounting or any business related course
• Has a strong command in written and oral communication
• proficient in computer operation
• Knows how to drive motorcycle with valid driver license

Just received an email from Marife:

after paper screening and if deemed qualified by the client, the candidates shall be called for phone interviews. then, for their final interview, the client shall arrange their transport to manila head office.  the client shall then shoulder the expenses for the final shortlisted aspirants.

the job openings are urgent so if any are interested form the 7 areas, they are advised to immediately email their resume’ co plete wiht contact numbers, mobile phones and landlines, if possible. hope you may help us tap other candidates fromt he areas mentioned.  metro manila candidates can also be considered for metro manila areas as well as visayas if they are willing and interested. knowledge of the local dialects will of course be an advantage.

There are also openings for the area managers and operation managersin the visayas areas.

Metro – Manila still needs around 2 – 3 branch managers.  but, a lot of motroized collectors. 20 every tuesday, another 20 every thursday. continuing.

This is a story how technology like cell phone can be a blessing on some of us.

It was Saturday last week, August 29, about 1:00 P.M when I receive a text message coming from our AVP if I know somebody looking for a job.

The text message I receive in Toto:

“Chinese Co.Chinese not rquird, can b advntaj. Rmbrd u hd refrals mgrs. tel dm col me up f 4 yr cors grad. 4617601,6664093. Email bio wd pic, sii.jobs@yahoo.com baka may alam gusto apply.”

I was also told that the message came from Marife, our former HR officer who is now in running a placement agency and the text message was forwarded to me.

That day I tried forwarding the message to some people in my phone book that I knew needed work.

Only a few responded with the word “Ok”, “Ke”, Copy”. Other answered with more questions as if I am the recruiter. Some did not reply so I thought it is either they have no cell phone load, they have new number or already dead.
Four days past so I already forgot what happened when another text message came to me the morning of Wednesday, September 2, 2009 .  It says:

“Pls 2 brnch mgrs col ofc 4617601 b4 lunch.Email bio wd pic 2day at sii.jobs@yahoo.com b ready client intrvw 2mrw or fri. Ty.”

I also got a call from our AVP telling me if I could help relay the message to our former BM’s because she needs experience sales personnel. So this time I worked harder. I must have texted almost all the people in my phone book including my friend Father Blogger.

The responses I received were almost the same as last Saturday but this time about four or five showed interest as shown by their responses. They texted me more questions despite telling them to call the number that was included in my text message.

“I am just relaying the message, Please call the number”.”The said Company needs 5 Branch managers to be assigned in Metro-Manila ASAP.”The company is Nationwide in scope but won’t reveal the name unless you pass the qualification and the owner will interview you.”"Pay is good and depends on your experience.” These were the information that I have learned and pass to them.

How do I know? I called the number just to answer their queries.  What made me smile was the fact that two people have the same opinion that the company or the agency is a hoax because it won’t reveal the company name. Oh my goodness gracious!

Around 2:00 P.M. that day Charlie arrived for a short visit in my office. He is one of my first mentors when I was still a Store Supervisor Trainee. He resigned almost 9 years ago and have moved on to at least 4 different companies. He told me that he just filed a leave of absence and planning to resign.

So I told him about the job opening and he’s interested we’ll call the number. I dialed the number and pass the phone to him. He was advised to send his bio data with picture and must go to the office the next day. He asked for the address and location. I am familiar with the place so the only problem was his bio data. We did the next best thing, to make his bio data and send it to the agency. Before he leave I bade goodbye I told him to pray and wish him good luck.

Thursday morning he texted me that he is already in the office waiting to be called for the interview. Afternoon of that day he informed me that he was already interviewed by the owner and would be call for a second interview. In all those exchange of text meassages I always wish him good luck.

Friday morning when he informed me that he is being called for his second interview and ask me to pray for him. Afternoon of the same day I received two text messages:

“Pare natanggap na ako. start ako September 16 with P—–.00 salary.”

“Salamat Mon, Kung di ako nakapasyal sa iyo wala pa ako trabaho, Salamat”.

No, it’s no me. The Lord showed you the way and you acted on it. I am happy for you. Good Luck Charlie!
