Smart Go Mail

When the Smart Go Mail service of Smart Communication was launched a couple of months back I guess a lot of people got excited.

Unlimited push mail on any phone with a very affordable price of P20.00 per day and P199.00 for 30 days. It is compatible with the most popular email providers such as Yahoo!, Gmail, Windows Live!, Hotmail, and Facebook via RSS Feeds

Who needs Blackberry now with this kind of service.

A lot of website have already posted their review about this Smart service but this story is based on actual account of me and my friend.

A friend of mine Eric who always needs to communicate through email with his brother who was based in China was very excited about this service. Emailing would be the cheapest form of communication and because he can’t go online most of the time, this “Go Mail” service of Smart is heaven sent for him. He is always busy and on the road most of the time so that the exchanges of text messages between the two of them have been be very expensive on both side. They needed to update each other about the business that they are trying to put up.

He is the first to enroll and I followed suit after two weeks. At first he is very happy because the service is fantastically updating him of his emails frequently. He could received even his facebook messages. He could also reply via email using only his phone.

Prior to his enrollment we visited one Smart Communication wireless center to inquire about this service. The lady acting as customer service representative explained how the emails would reach his phone? That there would be no additional “gprs” charges as long as he won’t use it to surf the “net”. They checked the list of phone that can avail the service and his HTC unit was in the list.

Satisfied with the explanations that he got, he asked the help of the “CS” how to enroll. And the rest is history as they say.

Three weeks after his enrollment he received a text message coming from Smart informing him that he have to settle his bill of P5,000.00 or his account would be redirected for exceeding his credit limit. So to cut this story short, he learned that the amount of P4,000.00 were “gprs” charges. Of course he contested his bill and a compromise was agreed upon.

He was instructed to renew his subscription and was given the proper way how to enroll. He was given the assurance that this time he won’t be billed with the “gprs” unless he would use it for surfing.

We were able to talk yesterday morning when I received by bill for the month of May. I was billed with P1,700.00 on “gprs” charges that I did not used for surfing. I was lucky that my bill is only such amount because I turned off my smart settings upon learning of his situation.When I asked him if his problem was solved, he gave me a big laughed and told me that his “gprs” charges for this month is P6,000.00.

Smart Go Mail service is a joke and we are not laughing.

Now I realize that all my children have no talent when it comes to dancing. Singing is also a bad dream for us.

For more than a year this was her best friend because she could use it even inside her room. Thanks to its Wi-Fi technology. I do believe that this little machine had done its job well because my daughter is now a registered Nurse.

But last month she started complaining beacuse her best friend could not cope up with the Facebook apllications that she’s playing with.  I was even introduced and taught how to play the FarmVille. I agree that those games from Facebook is really fun to play and very addicting too, but that is another story.

Buying another laptop is not an option at this time because I could not afford it. We have a desktop and another Mac book for them to spend their Facebook hour.

Then the idea of owning a PSP game console came into the picture. Two cousins neighbor started owning one and they are planning to play online via Wi-fi.

It was agreed that we dispose the best friend Eee pc and find another best friend PSP.

So after contacting my relieble contacts our Eecpc is now in the hands of another person while we are now the proud owner of a PSP 3000.
I was able to dispose my Eee pc for a price of P7K and was able to buy this second hand PSP for P6.5K.

According to my niece who was working as a sales clerk in Ever Gotesco buy and sell stall, the owner of this PSP was unhappy and decided to sell her unit because she could not play downloaded games. Original UMD games are very expensive. This must have been used for only a couple of months because it was almost scratch free.

One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure is really true especially in my case.

What I would always tell them, my kids, was to be happy, It is not how much you have but how much you enjoy the thing that you have.

Diskarte lang yan. hehehe.

As to how my kids are now enjoying their new Best friend is secret I would tell you if you asked me by email (wink).
The problem that came up lately was that my wife now finds little time for me and the kids because she also enjoyed every minute spent on playing with it.

17th Paulino Clan Reunion

I rarely open my facebook account. As a matter of fact, I am having a hard time navigating through but this time i have to endure being “lost” trying to find that message again.

It was the year 1999 when a customer service representative from Islacom (My first GSM line) managed to tell me and invite me to the Paulino Clan reunion. But unluckily I was transferred to San Jose Occidental Mindoro the next year that is why I lost contact again.

But in Occidental Mindoro I was able to know Mayor Renato Paulino of Calintaan who also told me about the clan reunion being held January of every year. Before I did have the opportunity to attend this celebration I was again transferred to other branches. Here they are: San Pablo City, Batangas City and Lucena City then back to Batangas city in that order.

After 10 long years of searching, I was able to received an email and an invitation to attend this gathering.

Hoping to be able to attend the reunion this time.
